This could be the ultimate Tri-five cruiser. Bold statement? For sure, but what else would you call a Don"s Hot Rods-built, Ram Jet 350/700R4-powered black "57 with a fully built suspension, perfect interior and an unreal body? €œUltimate€ fits, doesn"t it? Start outside. We (and that includes you) get jaded when it comes to looking at 57"s, since they"re at every car show everywhere, and most of them simply aren"t that nice. This is an exception: The first time I saw it was up in the air on a lift, the least-flattering angle of any paint job. Don"s Hot Rods in Franklin, Ohio, did the work, and you may have heard of them-they"ve produced no fewer than three Ridler Award finalists! I talked to Don about the details, and he made it clear that nothing about this build stood out: The car is simply finished to the same standards as the rest of their work. You notice little things like excellent panel gaps, liquid paint, gorgeous chrome, understated details and smart component choices. From the top to the bottom you"ll find perfect fasteners-these guys care not only what they bolt together but how. Starting with a post coupe body, Don"s added just enough Bel-Air cues to dress up the panels without making a clone-it"s similar to factory dress up packages offered on other cars like Mustangs and early Porsche 911"s. The bumpers are straight and shine like new, the stainless trim is exceptional and the polished 17€ Torq Thrust II"s at all four corners offer up a modern take on a retro theme. The stance is right, low enough to look awesome but high enough to clear everything you"ll find on the road and preserving the ride quality. Xenon headlamps light your way, while those behind can admire the LED tails. Expertly tinted windows complete the black-and-chrome dor. Sit inside and you"re treated to period-correct upholstery, custom stitched for the "55 seat frame up front. You"ll get your information from Classic Instruments gauges in the original dash while holding onto a leather and billet wheel on top of the Flaming River tilt steering wheel. Vintage Air keeps you cold or hot, power windows are at your side, a Classic Autosound stereo with trunk-mounted CD player keeps you entertained while the freshness of the work will keep the smile on your face. Twist the key and fire the 350 Ram Jet engine to life. This is a thoroughly modern engine sporting a roller cam, Vortec heads and multiport fuel injection straight out of the box from GM. 375HP and 400lbs/ft of torque combine with great throttle response for a trouble-free, modern experience. A 700R4 overdrive automatic transmission feeds power back to a brand new Moser-built 12 bolt rear end-it"s bulletproof and gets great gas mileage. The intake manifold was polished, as were just about everything else bolted to the mill, including the billet valve covers, breathers and accessory drive system. Ceramic-coated headers lead back into a Don"s-built, ceramic coated and mandrel bent 2.5€ exhaust with an X pipe and Spintech mufflers. The sound is very mellow-you"ll love it the first time you hear it. Underneath, you"ll find clean sheetmetal coated in resilient bedliner. This isn"t a show pony, and you don"t need to fear driving it! Heidt"s tubular control arms and sway bar work with the Unisteer rack and pinion kit to point you where you need to go, while the Posey"s rear springs and sway bar kit make sure the tail follows as planned. Four wheel disc brakes are GM sourced parts for durability. Formed steel lines run the fuel and brake fluid around, all custom made at Don"s. The build"s quality is most evident down here: Nothing hangs, nothing"s zip tied in place, pieces which should be heat shielded are, hose unions are made with AN fittings and more. This is a car that"ll knock down trophies, if you"re into that sort of thing, or get you down any road you"ll find on a map. At the Motor Car Group, we"re enthusiasts first. We want you to enjoy your new car from the minute it"s delivered and the trailer door drops. Before a car leaves our shop, it"s gone through comprehensively, both visually and mechanically. We do more than just kick the tires, though: We change every fluid from the oil to the differential to the brake fluid to the convertible top hydraulic oil. We do this after you buy the car so that your €œmaintenance clock€ starts when you get it, and not months prior! We fill your tires with nitrogen, road test (if the weather permits us here in Cleveland!) and clean it inside and out. We buff the paint using a three-step process immediately before it"s taken away so that it gleams when it arrives. Every car we sell, from Sunday drivers through the rarest exotics, is meant to be driven--get out there! If you have any questions before, during or after the sale, do not hesitate to contact us. It"s what we"re here for! Call us at (440) , write us at sales@motorcargroup.com or stop by and see the new shop at 6441 Davis Industrial Parkway, Solon OH 44139. We"re 26 miles from Cleveland Hopkins Airport and we can pick you up when you come to inspect or purchase your car. We welcome any prospective buyers, their buyer"s agents or inspectors from Monday through Friday during business hours, as well as evenings and weekends by appointment. We"re car people who love what we do, and you"ll feel it from the first time you contact us. Give the R&H crew the opportunity to serve you: Our passion and attention to detail set us apart! Call
